Simple and smart -
The farmers' favourite.
Renowned for their smart design features and simple operation, SAM Spreaders have been perfected from over seventy years of on-farm experience. They are Australasia's most popular fertiliser Spreaders.
When you go for a SAM you are going for reliability and strong, quality construction. They are easy for your team to use, give an accurate spread and are backed by quick spare parts should you ever need them.
SAMs spread all powder and granulated fertilisers including; super, lime and urea. From 40 kilograms to 2500 kilograms per hectare. Spread widths for Superphosphate are at 20 metre widths.
Sizes come in four, five and six tonne all can be either single or tandem axle. All Spreaders have a 400 millimetre wide floor belt.
Choose either the straightforward hydraulic clutch to ground drive system, or if you want even more accuracy and control - go for the computer control system with weighing scales.
Smart features
-
Stainless back end
The bulk of the back end is constructed from stainless steel. This cuts out rust and means the life of your running gear is extended. The flat discs, vanes and spinner tubes are all stainless. They connect to a pair of extremely reliable hydraulic motors. The roller bearings are easily adjustable for you and keep discs firm.
-
The paintwork may outlast you!
Every SAM has an advanced new paint procedure. This application has been chosen for its hard-wearing toughness. They are firstly blasted with a steel-grit, then a zinc spray is applied (thermal-arc), a primer coat then the two pot epoxy paint. Mega-solid!
-
Tough rust resistant hopper
These plastic bins have shown themselves to be very strong and reliable. They are made from UV-protected polyethylene. Fertiliser can be extremely corrosive and the SAM bin prevents that by being rust-free and easy clean. Fertiliser slips down the sides easily and washes off well.
-
Consistent spread control
Setting the rate you wish to spread is simply by rear door adjustment. The double spinner design gives a nice, accurate, even spread pattern for a wide range of product.
-
-
Smart, accurate weighing
When purchasing your Spreader you can add electronic weigh scales. This mean you can weigh the fertiliser in your bin at any point. They can also be zeroed out. Further information is below. Note: Weigh scales cannot be fitted retrospectively to Spreaders.
-
New smart computer drive
If even more accuracy and control is needed go for a computer control system (instead of the normal ground drive). This technology means the correct application rate is applied from the cab regardless of changes in forward speed or changes in product density. You can go for rate control only, or add weigh scales for extra precision and automatic rate calibration. A GPS aerial is great for proof of placement and field mapping. Further information below.
-
Mudguards for added protection
Standard on all tandem axle machines (except 8 & 9 tonne) SAM mudguards are made from UV-protected, high strength polyethylene. Cleaning and chips to chassis are reduced and they hold up well to abrasive chemical fertilisers.
-
Textured rubber belt
The 400mm wide rubber floor is two-ply rubber, riveted into galv steel bars, then welded onto a high-strength chain. Stainless steel skirts run along both sides to prevent striping.
-
Coupling with swivel
A fixed coupling is standard across 4 and 5 tonne Spreaders. These can be upgraded to a swivel coupling if need be. Great if you have large loads and varied terrain. 6 tonne and above have the heavy swivel coupling as standard. When you are using an Auto Hitch you'll require a donut eye on the coupling.
-
Rates on your mobile
For SAMs fitted with load weigh scales, an app for your phone is provided. This is a great double check for your setting on the back door (Android only).
-
Filtering mesh
This protective mesh protects the belt and running gear from large objects causing damage.
Optional extras
- Roll out top cover
- Flat cover with bungys
- Easy greasing
- Larger tyres
- New smart computer drive
- Scales for weight measurement
- Brakes on front hubs
- Lights for on-road use

Roll out top cover
These simple to use roll out covers are one of our most popular upgrades. It is a heavy-duty canvas on a sturdy framework with a simple bungy system.
The cover is rolled up by the handle and tucked out of the way when you are not using it.
The roll-top is located at the rear of the machine so that your Spreader is able to be loaded from both sides.

Flat cover with bungys
Straightforward and uncomplicated, this basic heavy-duty canvas cover is simply tossed across the load and hooked in place with bungys and clips.

Easy greasing
Remote greasing is included on all 8 & 10 and ten tonne models. It is an optional extra on smaller models.
All grease points are raised together so they are easy to reach, saving you time and effort with your maintenance.

Larger tyres
Our tyres have been chosen for their toughness and durability. We only go for very high quality options for you.
Four and five tonne SAM Spreaders come standard with 11.5x15.3 tyres. Or you can upgrade to bigger 400x15.5 tyres. Bigger tyres can be suitable for softer, wet terrain.
Six tonne Spreaders have these 400x15.5 tyres included as standard or can be upgraded to 500/50x17 tyres.
For every single-axle model 550 / 60x22.5 tyres are an upgrade option.
Tyre specifications can be adapted for your particular situation. We are happy to talk through custom options.

New smart computer drive
If even more accuracy and control is needed, go for a computer controlled system. This is instead of the normal ground drive.
This technology means the correct application rate is applied from the cab, regardless of changes in forward speed or changes in product density.
You can go for rate control only, or add weigh scales for extra precision and automatic rate calibration.
A GPS aerial is great for proof of placement and field mapping. Find out more.

Scales for weight measurement
Manual drive spreaders
Load cells give an accurate measure of the weight of product in the bin. They can be zeroed at any time.
A simple calculation of the weight of product spread, divided by the area covered, gives you the spread rate (in kg/ha). Many new tractors have an inbuilt display that will give area covered at certain spread widths.
A fixed Iconix FX15 display unit is supplied with all manual SAM machines fitted with weigh scales. It is mounted to the front of your spreader.
A simple App for Bluetooth viewing on your mobile is also available (currently Android only). This App allows you to verify your spread rate at any point in time.
Computer drive (e-Spreader & Topcon)
You can also add load cells to any computer controlled machine. Most are spec'd this way. It is really the only way to get true accuracy because you are actually weighing the product in the bin.

Brakes on front hubs
All tandem axle SAM's can have brakes fitted. They are positioned on the two front hubs.
Brakes are chosen for their longevity and have proven to be extremely reliable across the years.

Lights for on-road use
You will need LED lights and flags if you are travelling on the road. The flexible plastic mounting boards are tough and hardy if knocked.
The LED lights plug straight into your power source. They are fully waterproof.
